Sherri D. Hawley, Esq.

Sherri Hawley graduated from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and was admitted to practice law in Minnesota in 1992.  Since then she has worked as a prosecutor, a public defender, and in private practice, all with an emphasis on child protection and juvenile delinquency law.

Currently, she practices in the law firm of Walling, Berg & Debele, P.A. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where her emphasis on juvenile law continues, with the addition of adoption law, unique custody situations, and all aspects of family law.  A significant amount of her time is devoted to representing guardians ad litem in child protection and family law cases.  Although currently in private practice, she continues to take cases by court appointment to represent parents at the Court of Appeals who have had their parental rights terminated.

Sherri is chair of the Children and the Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, is secretary/treasurer of that organization’s Appellate Practice Section, and serves on the association’s Professionalism Committee.  She is also active in Minnesota Women Lawyers and serves as a co-chair of its Community Action Committee.  She has served as a mock trial judge and law student mentor.  She is also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
