Sherri D. Hawley, Esq.
Sherri Hawley graduated from the
University of California Hastings College of the Law in San
Francisco and was admitted to practice law in Minnesota in 1992. Since then she has worked as a prosecutor, a
public defender, and in private practice, all with an emphasis on child
protection and juvenile delinquency law.
Currently, she practices in the
law firm of Walling, Berg & Debele, P.A. in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
where her emphasis on juvenile law continues, with the addition of adoption
law, unique custody situations, and all aspects of family law. A significant amount of her time is devoted
to representing guardians ad litem in child protection
and family law cases. Although currently
in private practice, she continues to take cases by court appointment to
represent parents at the Court of Appeals who have had their parental rights
terminated.
Sherri is chair of the Children
and the Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, is
secretary/treasurer of that organization’s Appellate Practice Section, and
serves on the association’s Professionalism Committee. She is also active in Minnesota Women Lawyers
and serves as a co-chair of its Community Action Committee. She has served as a mock trial judge and law
student mentor. She is also a volunteer
with Habitat for Humanity.
