Eileen C. Treacy, Ph.D.
Dr. Treacy, who holds a Ph.D. in
Psychology (Fordham U., 1995) and a specialization in Applied Developmental
Psychology, has worked with adult and child victims of sexual abuse/assault for
over 30 years in a variety of capacities, including: rape crisis counselor;
community based child victim counseling; conducting NIMH research and therapy
for adult victims; developing training programs for counselors, and conducting
evaluations and investigations in suspected cases of sexual abuse/assault. Dr. Treacy has
conducted investigations/evaluations for the attorneys for the children, family
and criminal prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges in many counties in New York. She has testified as an expert witness
in over 350 cases. Dr. Treacy has been a member of the New York State
Children’s Justice Task Force for over 20 years. She has authored a number of
professional articles related to sexual abuse and assault. She was a member of the Steering
Committee that developed the New York State Forensic Interviewing Best
Practices Guidelines in 2002.
She is a member of the faculty for the 3-day forensic interviewing
training seminar that has been offered monthly throughout the state since
2003. Dr. Treacy
has been a faculty member for the New York State Police Sexual Offense Seminar
and the Child Physical Abuse Seminar for many years. She is also a faculty member in the
Department of Psychology at Lehman College in the Bronx. In her consulting practice, Dr. Treacy provides training to professionals working with
children and she also assists many agencies with investigations and extended
forensic evaluations of children in complex cases involving possible sexual
abuse.
